Controlling the quality of life. That's what she said.
This past weekend was my friend’s birthday, so I had gotten her Barney’s Playbook (from How I Met Your Mother). Like with most (more like all) gifts, I don’t know how to wrap a book. I mean, I obviously know how to wrap it, I just hate having it actually look like a book. So, I decided to change it up a bit. I figured I should stay with the HIMYM theme – I wanted to be creative as well as provide durable support for the book so it wouldn’t bend in weird ways. I looked across the room and saw a crapload of of cardboard boxes that I had yet to recycle, and I figured what better way to protect the book? The tough part now was to decide how to decorate the cardboard so that it looked like I actually put effort into wrapping it. I remembered my lil sis showing me a bunch of HIMYM graphics, and Googled them when I found the perfect idea –
I gave it my own personal touch and opted to write a little message to my friend on the side, trying my best to mimic the speaking style of Barney Stinson. I tape the panels to the book, which I had wrapped in tissue paper, and I secured that whole package with some colorful twine because it was the first ribbon-like material I found. When wrapping presents are even crafting cards, I rarely plan out ahead the whole process – I mostly go-with-the-flow and let my creativity take me places I never imagined I’d go. I find that it helps me not to plan out crafts too much. I hope this post has provided you with some crafting inspiration, and don’t forget to check back for some more craft posts!
